HSP学者聚焦:Miranda Renteria

Class of 2026
HSP Scholar, Miranda Renteria.

Miranda Renteria is a Third-Year Scholar from Yukon, Oklahoma, majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Spanish. At OU, Miranda is involved with Latinos Without Borders, the Crimson Club, the President’s Community Scholars, and serves as a Resident Advisor at Headington Hall and an intern with Connections and Student Engagement. Off campus, Miranda also serves as a Medical Interpreter. In the future, she aspires to seek out her Master’s in Strategic Communication and work at an agency.

If Miranda could describe her experience with HSP in one word, she would choose “Fulfilling.”

“I have met some of my best friends through the program and for that I am so grateful. I know I have a family and a home away from home, so HSP has really become a part of my daily life!”

One thing that Miranda cherishes about the program is the opportunity to be exposed to leaders of many cultural and religious backgrounds. “HSP has taught me how to see things from various perspectives,” she says, “and it has allowed me to see things outside of what I'm used to, which is something that I think is truly beautiful.”

This upcoming semester, Miranda will be serving on HSP’s Impact Team as the Peer Mentor Chair. She shared that something she is looking forward to is seeing everyone grow into their respective roles. As the HSP ecosystem develops and expands, she is excited to meet the incoming cohort of Scholars and witness the growth as mentees become mentors and mentors become small group leaders.

About the Henderson Scholars Program

In 1999 there was a vision to honor Dr. George Henderson by establishing a scholarship program in his name. This vision became a reality in 2001, the Henderson Scholars Program officially came into fruition. For more information visit ou.edu/hsp.
